Indonesia is again falling down the corruption ladder amongst countries. A study released by Political and Economy Risk Consultancy (PERC), a consulting company based in Hongkong, to gauge corruption levels in investment destination countries in Asia Pacific region.
From 14 Asia Pacific countries surveyed, Indonesia is categorized as the most corrupted country followed by Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippine, Thailand and India. Indonesia scored 9.27 on this 0- 10 study whereby 0 means very clean and 10 means very corrupt. This score are significantly lower from last year which was 8.32.
This survey is conducted by PERC every year by questioning more than 2 thousand middle and upper management respondent from Asia, Australia and the US.
This condition calls for a concern, especially considering that every year Indonesia was always at the bottom part of the index. This is a clear sign that Indonesia is the most corrupted country amongst countries surveyed.
Meanwhile the Indonesian Government has just formalized its Medium term Development Plan for 2010-2014. In the plan the Government put a target for Indonesian corruption eradication of 5,0 according to Corruption Perception Index (CPI) by 2014. Indonesia is currently has a score of 2,8. CPI is a consolidation index by Transparency International based on surveys conducted by various organizations such as PERC worldwide.
The fall in PERC score, is expected to be followed other surveys that closely tied with the corruption eradication performance in Indonesia.
As a respond to this survey, Transparency International Indonesia urges the Indonesian government to take a stronger stance in improving the corruption eradication. TI-Indonesia listed some aspects that should be the Government top priority such as bureaucracy reform, legal certainty, justice system mafia, and the weakening of the Corruption Eradication Commission. In particular, the government should also carry out a comprehensive reform of the business licensing system.

I am Indonesian citizen who lives abroad … I feel so embarrassing … ashamed to call myself Indonesian … If Singapore could becomes one the cleanest government on earth … why Indonesia becomes the most corruption country …? I am not surprised .. because a lot of people in Indonesia are hypocrites …Every year a lot of pilgrimage, go to Mecca .. but they do not fear of Allah (god) , so do not be surprised if they get a position in government, they will do corruption ….. although God gives an abundance of wealth , Indonesia still sbelongs to one of the poorest country…I hope god will just terminate or kill those who behave like this and replace with a generation have more responsibility and moral ….
yeah, this is indonesia.
as long as they behave dicriminated (racist) to minority, nothing can change.
they who have power in goverment(legistif too), just aim to enrich themselves, no care for all people goodness and justice.
